The Planetary Network
The planetary network of light, love and service is transforming the mental climate of the planet, reorientating humanity to spiritual attitudes and values. The groups and activities reported in the Bulletin reflect different aspects of the network.
International Year of Light
This year the UN in conjunction with UNESCO and a consortium of scientific bodies has declared 2015 as the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies.
The Charter for Compassion
In 2008, Karen Armstrong, a British author and commentator won the TED Prize (a global community which seeks a deeper understanding of life) for her initiative to create a ‘Charter for Compassion’. Many thousands of people contributed towards this initiative and it was launched in November 2009.
The Charter for Compassion calls upon all of us to make compassion “a clear, luminous and dynamic force in our polarized world”. It goes on to say, “compassion can break down political, dogmatic, ideological and religious boundaries. Born of our deep interdependence, compassion is essential to human relationships and to a fulfilled humanity. It is the path to enlightenment, and indispensable to the creation of a just economy and a peaceful global community.”
The Charter for Compassion is dedicated to building a worldwide network of Compassionate Communities where people from every sector — business, healthcare, education, government, faith and interfaith, peace and non-violence, the arts, and those working to preserve the environment — can bring compassion to everything they do, and who will take responsibility for igniting the compassion of the general community to care for each other and for the well-being of all members of the community from birth through childhood, adolescence, and adulthood to old age and death.

Cultural Integration Fellowship
The Fellowship was founded in 1951, inspired by Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy of integral living, as a center of universal religion and spiritual practice.
The three main tenets of the Fellowship are: intercultural understanding and harmony; nonsectarian universal religion; and creative selfdevelopment and self-fulfillment.
Since 1951, the Fellowship has hosted a number of special events on culture, religion, music and dance and it continues to offer lectures reflecting the universal values and teachings of the world’s great religious, spiritual and wisdom traditions. The Fellowship explains: “Honoring the spiritual traditions of diverse cultures and religions, CIF promotes the interchange of ideas between the cultures of east and west, creating a greater sense of cross cultural harmony and world peace.”
